My name is Matt Jacobs, I'm the founder and owner of Shadowfax Guitars. My journey in Lutherie, stretches back to my college days nearly 23 years, when I was unhappy with the playability of the cheap guitars I owned. This was basically pre-internet days, so most of my information came from books. I tinkered with the guitars I had, even stripping the top off of a cheap electric I had and replacing it with a flamed maple drop top.
However, I would say I really started circa 2000, when I wanted to buy an Eric Clapton OM, but couldn't afford it. So I did some research (internet lutherie as in it's infancy at this point) and bought books on the subject, and built an OM, primarily in my Garage and at the woodshop on the Army Base I was stationed at
